So another weekend in DFW working on the swap . This weekend a lot got done. Spent some money, put some parts on , spent more money , put more parts on , spend more money , put more parts on ..... I don't know if it will ever end ughh..
But it will ! This week the car should be running ! Friday the exhaust and rusted frame rail will be welded up. My only concern is that the rear end will break the second the car moves. I've heard some people using the stock R200 diff and having no problems. At the same time I hear about the guy that broke his diff with a stock 6 cylinder . I think at the end of the day it comes down to how you're driving the car . A clutch dumper is guaranteed to break a rear end before a automatic daily driver would. I guess we'll see how good my self control really is...
Putting the car back together also means I get to install badass original stuff like the original airbox you see above. My little brother has been making a living doing art for awhile so I decided to let him play with a few parts of my car in his normal paint splatter fashion. My concern with this motor swap was that I'd put a LS in a datsun and have a car everyone already has... I know I know LS swapped datsun isn't that popular, but within the datsun world they are like fat kids with stains on their shirts. I think keeping the factor air box , painting it gold , and letting my brother go wild on it should give the car some character where it might have lost some.
The engine bay also got a bukkake from some paint pens. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I understand everyone might not be into this .. (thats why you have your own car)
Mad car parts everywhere !!! Hell of a problem to have.
And some new Ink.
I'll be putting a video together when the car is done and I'll be damned if I'm not in tears on the ride home from DFW to Austin this weekend coming up .

Nice ! I told myself I'd never Rally Cross again after the motor swap . That being said I did win the RWD prepared Class of SCCA Rally Cross in Southern Texas Last year with my bone stock ( Prepared class because of suspension upgrade) 280z at Brianne Corn Raceway .
HUGE FAN OF RALLY HUGE ENEMY OF BODY DAMAGE AND LOUD ROCK HITTING MY CAR NOISES !!!!!!!!

My understanding was that the R200 was a super stout diff, its just that they will get burned up super quickly if you're constantly breaking traction with one tire, as they just are routing all the power into smoke and running a huge difference between the two wheels. So, no heavy drifting until you get an LSD.
